"Great trip to Breckenridge - weverything worked perfectly.  The condos you recommended were ideal for us.  Thanks very much and we'll be in touch next year."

The town of Breckenridge was around long before the skiing started so it has the feel of a real cowboy town. Originally a mining town (hence the less than imaginative "names" for the mountains) the Main Street is still composed of single-storey buildings, once home to purveyors of mining necessities, now stockists of skiing equipment, exotic drinks and fine food. However you will also find the occasional Saloon with swing doors - perfect for swaggering practice.

Skiing in Breckenridge is characterised by mile upon mile of moderately inclined trails where you can cruise around the peaks on perfectly prepared snow. The whole area is well linked with fast chairs so there is little or no queuing. A real joy is that a much of the skiing is below the tree line, so you can pick and choose your way down through the clearings. Should you be looking for a sterner test, there are steeper ungroomed areas above the tree-lines, in particular off the top of the Olympic Express Quad chair - highest lift in North America. If you are experimenting with off-piste for the first time, there are plenty of gently sloping open areas that are ideal for trying a few turns.

Breckenridge by night

The best airport for Breckenridge is Denver where we can arrange direct flights for you with British Airways or other US carriers.
From Denver Airport it is a two hour drive to Breckenridge, 90% of which is on Freeways. We can arrange a (4WD) hire vehicle for you to make the trip yourself and give you easy access to the other Colorado resorts. Or we can provide a Chauffeured mini-van for you: either exclusively for your party or book you onto one of the frequent scheduled trips.

If our recommendations below do not fit your bill, please enquire as there are an enormous number of other possibilities.

Mountain Thunder Lodge
Only a couple of years old these extremely well appointed apartments have everything you need to get the most out of your trip to Breckenridge. Well positioned between the town and the mountain, you can walk down to the Breck-Connect gondola in under five minutes and ski back to your door in the evening. Alternatively, the resort shuttle buses can take you to other starting points, not really necessary as the whole resort is so well linked.
In the evening it's a pleasant stroll down to the main street and all of Breck's cafes, bars, boutiques, and restaurants.

The Great Divide Hotel****

The only slopeside hotel in Breckenridge, the 200-bedroom Great Divide is just a short stroll across Peak 9 car park to the base station. The hotel has good sized all en-suite bedrooms (sharing Twin is no problem). There is huge buffet breakfast (even by US standards!) to set you up for a big day on the mountains. When you return the bar is most welcoming and if you are too tired for the walk down into town you can dine at the hotel's restaurant.

The Great Divide also has indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs. Plus there is a full ski shop on the ground floor so rental or ski-servicing couldn't be easier.
